Our Fur and Down Policy

Woolrich is deeply committed to creating high quality garments through responsible business practices.

Woolrich’s unparalleled heritage and deep connection to the outdoors gives us a rich and unique understanding of garments designed for every environment.

To enhance durability and performance alongside versatility and style, a selection of our products is made using materials such as fur and down. We respect and believe that choosing to wear garments made with animal-derived materials is a personal decision, and we provide complete and transparent information so that customers can make their own informed choice.

Woolrich make substantial, long-term investments in our supply chain that ensure the rigorous and consistent application of dedicated control procedures and the traceability of the source of animal-derived materials.

Fur

We manage the selection of 100% of the fur used in our garments. Our verification program guarantees that these components of our garments are checked during the various stages of the production process and that all our products comply with international standards on animal welfare.

All of our furs are sourced through the renowned Saga Furs Auction House that works only with certified farms or from suppliers who source materials in accordance with the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards (AIHTS), the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), the European Convention for the Protection of Animals Kept for Farming Purposes (implemented by the European Directive n. 98/58/EC), the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and/or European Regulation n.1523/2007.

Down & Feathers

All of Woolrich’s down and feathers are from ducks and geese and are a by-product of the food industry. The down and feathers used in our supply chain are 100% traceable and certified by the IDFL Laboratory and Institute, a global leader in testing and inspection according to the standards established by the European Down & Feather Association (EDFA) and the International Down and Feather Bureau (IDFB). This certification ensures that down or feathers come only from certified farms that adhere to strict animal welfare standards.
